WASH. D.C. pros and cons for staying at hyatt on capital hill

I am looking at the hyatt on capitol hill, would like your take on the area or your experience with the hotel the best price i have been able to find was $101.00 a nite. I am also looking at the park hyatt, even though it is a bit more, best price i have found was $169.00 a nite.

We stayed at Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill for one night two weeks ago. Got it on priceline for $50 + tax. Nice hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff. The location is very convenient: it's within a 5-minute walk to both Capitol Hill and Union Station. Let me know if you have any further questions.

We stayed at the Hyatt in July. Walked to Smithsonian's Air and Space Museam and then to the MCI center. Hotel in a good area. We did walk through a seedy area to get the the MCI center.

Rooms were big, nice and clean.
Ate dinner in the hotel restaurant which was expensive with not alot of choices.

I highly recommend the Washington Suites Georgetown. You can get a room during the holidays for $99 per night. They have huge rooms and it is close to everything.

My understanding is that the Hyatt is not the most central hotel. There hotels that are one-two blocks from the Mall like Garden and Capital Hiltons, Marriott. Five blocks would be annoying to me in the cold.

I stayed at Sheraton Four points over the summer for $60 a night also 5 blocks I found this farther than hotels above.

Come to think of it George Town Suites listed below while may not be the same quality as even the Sheraton, they do have kitchens, yes? You will be in Georgetown though that is great in warm weather.

Nick: I don't know when you are planning on going but I've been looking into DC hotels around Christmas/New Years and the Hyatt Regency is offering some sort of Holiday discount for 79$/night.
