walking distance?
I have a conference I am attending in Chicago in May. It is at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers but I have the opportunity to stay at the following hotels for much less.
1. W hotel either on Lakeshore Drive or City Center
2. Hotel Monaco or Hotel Burnham
Are these hotels within safe walking distance to the Sheraton? I define walking distance as about 3 city blocks.
Thanks for any insight you guys can give.

Are you feeling the love yet, ahcall?
(Gotta say, though, it's pretty easy to answer questions like yours more quickly using any of a half dozen methods beside a travel bulletin board).
The Monaco is about 12 blocks, Burnham about 15 blocks, W CC about 23 blocks, W LS about 9 blocks.

Thanks?? I did omit the Chicago bit in by subject and thought about it after I sent it.
I also did call the hotels and got responses that did not match what the I have heard through you folks. Example, the Monaco (which is 12 blocks by nytraveler) was 3-4 blocks by the receptionist at the hotel.
Lotsa love is comin my way...should be an interesting trip.

You can look up the locations on mapquest and decide on your own.
From the Monaco, which is Lake & Wabash, you can go 3 block east to N. Columbus. 2 block north will get you to the river. Cross the bridge, and go about another block east. So, I counted 7 long blocks. Definitely more than the 3-4 blocks that you consider as "walking distance".
BTW, you can punch in the address of the Sheraton in Travelocity, and then show the closest hotels around. The closest are:
Swissotel (just across the river)
Holiday Inn City Center (go north from Sheraton)
Hyatt Regency (cross river, then west)
Fairmont (cross river, keep going south)
Those look like the only ones within 3-4 long blocks.
The W Lake Shore is the 9th closest, while the Monaco is the 10th closest, by distance.
