Lobby of the W is very, very cool, and the restaurant (Blue Fin) is both cool and very good. Best thing about the W, IMHO, are the superb Westin beds. Staff is really, really young (this may be a + or - for you); decor is nice; there are a few glitches with the bldg, but I would still recommend it. The Millenium is a little older, but supposed to be very good value. You might also consider the new Sofitel on 44th, between 5th and 6th, so it is a little off Times Square hubbub; it's supposed to be very nice, spacious rooms (I've only been in the lobby). It seems like a good-quality hotel.
