visit to Ground Zero

Tomorrow is our big one day trip to NYC. We are considering visiting Ground Zero. We would have to skip something else. I think it should not be far from Penn Staion where we get our bus back to Baltimore. What exactly would we see there? How much time we would likely spend there? Is Ground Zero visible from th Top of the Rock?

It is a construction site. Have you looked at a map of NYC to see where things are in relationship to each other?

What makes you think it is not far from Penn Station?

I looked up the distance from Ground Zero to Penn Station on Google Maps. It said it takes 12 minutes to walk

The so-called "Ground Zero" is in Lower Manhattan, almost straight across from the Brooklyn Bridge and at least 20 minutes travel time from Penn Station. It's not really a site I'd spend time on for a one-day trip into Manhattan. There's little to see, and it is indeed a big construction site, just like any other in Manhattan. I would never skip something else to go there.

You will not be able to see it from the Top of the Rock because it's hidden by other tall buildings and too far away.

You are mistaken about the distance from Ground Zero to Penn Station. It is perhaps an hour's walk or perhaps an hour and 15 minutes. The 20 minutes travel time is by subway. A bus will take about twice that time.

Are you sure you were using the walk feature on Google maps? Did it give you mileage?

www.hopstop.com is a good source for walking, cab and public transporation directions.

If you had just looked at the places on a map, you would see that they are far from each other.

thank you, thank you, I did look at a map. I think my "Ground Zero" refers to an advertising agentcy?? Without your help we might have ended up on a wild goose chase.

World Financial Center or World Trade Center is how it would be on a map, not Ground Zero.

"Ground Zero" is a construction site. What you might want to visit is Trinity Church and St. Paul's Chapel.
