You will love the Kona Reef. We have stayed there several times and while each unit varies, the location can't be beat and the pool, spa and BBQ area are very nice. There is a small sand beach right next to Kona Reef where I like to sit and read and watch the surfers.

Kristina: We decided on Kona Reef also - seems like a good alternative for us!
We have always stayed at the Waikoloa beach area or in Kealakekua so this will be a welcome change!
Keep us updated on your experience at Kona Reef when you return - as we are going in December!
