From the USOpen website:

Evening Sessions
All grounds gates open at 6:00 pm. Arthur Ashe Stadium will open at 6:30 pm or 40 minutes
after the conclusion of the day sessions. Guests with restaurant passes, hospitality invitations
and Luxury Suite ticket holders will have access to the site, through the East Gate, and
restaurant elevators at 5:00 pm. Early entrance evening ticket holders will have access to the
grounds at 4:00 pm.

The day sessions go long often. Be prepared to wait and for a possible VERY late night! Some have gone until after 1AM.

Instead of eating their horribly overpriced food - you might think about dining in Flushing - some of the world's greatest Chinese and Asian restaurants. Have an early dinner and then take the #7 train at Roosevelt Ave. and Main St. - one stop to the tennis stadium.

The south gate is usually the first to open, so head over to that gate if you want to beat the east gate crowds into the venue.
