Universal Studios FL - Best place to buy tickets (Help a first time visitor please)
Universal FL
We will be arriving in Orlando on 21st August and hope to visit Universal studios (for 1st time) on thursday 22nd August (We figured midweek would be less busy?)
Is there anywhere we can buy tickets when we arrive(We want to buy a One day pass) at a discounted rate? or do we just have to buy tickets at the entrance to Universal.
Also any tips for not to be missed rides would be great.
Thanks for the help

I doubt you'll be able to find a discount on a one day pass. You can just buy them at Guest Services--get there EARLY.
Don't know what kinds of rides you like, but if you like roller coasters, don't miss the Hulk and the Dueling Dragons--ride the first row of the Dragons. Spiderman is one of the best rides EVER. Jurassic Park River ride is great (these are all in Islands of Adventure) In Universal Studios, Men in Black and Terminator II are great.
For all the info you'll ever want on Universal/IOA, go to www.disboards.com and scroll down to the Universal boards.

Shaun,
We arrive in Orlando on the 21st also,
our 8th trip.
You cannot buy a one day ticket in advance, you will have to buy one on the gate at the day.
Only the multi day ticket, which we have, can be bought in the UK or in advance.
Which park are you going to Universal Studios or Islands of Avdenture, both are great but very different.
US is mainly rides and thrills from the movies, Terminator2, Twister and Back To The Future three of the best.
IOA, is just pure rides, Spiderman, Ripsaw Falls plus scary coasters like the Hulk and Duelling Dragons.
I am not sure of the cost to do both parks in one day but as you can literally just walk from one to the other it may be worth asking when you get there.

I have just come back from Orlando and we purchased a two day ticket and got one day free with a coupon book we got from our hotel (ticket was purchased at the gate). To be honest, we went on a Sat/Sun and the only ride we queued for was Spiderman (15mins) - the rest we got on right away. Islands of Adventure was definately the best park in Orlando

Shaun,
We are flying with Virgin from Manchester mate.
If you are going to Universal you will have a great day, make sure you pick up the free guide map when you arrive inside the park.
Terminator 2 is a must, great 3d action show. Back To The Future, a bit 'jerky' but again a must if you haven't got a dodgy stomach, try to ride in the front
of the car it is much better.
Jaws, Men In Black, Twister and Hanna Barbera are all worthwhile too.
Drink plenty of water though! As you are just going for the day are you planning on seeing other attractions in Florida?
