The husbands aren't interested, so my DS and I want to go to WDW together in May. We've been before, with kids and spouses, so now we want to just go ourselves for five days. Questions:

1. We don't need a fancy place to stay (but no Motel Six or Days Inn please), so how about some recommendations for on-site and off-site places? We're willing to rent a car either way.
2. Ditto for dining--not fancy, but my DS loves shrimp.
3. I'm thinking one day each at MK, AK, Epcot, and Universal or MGM, plus one of the water parks. I'd love to spend an evening at The Adventurer's Club on Pleasure Island. Am I missing something?
4. Anything else we should consider?

The best time I ever had there was with a grown daughter. Two women too.

You will have a ball.

But there is a lot to "figure" for optimum time usage. A good Disney guide is no waste. Buy or get the latest out from your library.

Inside you can do AK as a 1/2 day and the other half MGM. Don't miss the rock and roll rollercoaster-MGM, and the "Tough to be a Bug" inside the tree of life AK.

Plan at least one long day & evening with dinner at EPCOT. Great pastries for breakfast in France. Good German food with beer for lunch. Dinner in Japan would be my choice. LOL!

La Nouba at Circque du Soleil (Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island) is not to be missed.

Sounds like a fun trip! I would recommend one of the Disney budget hotels, like All-Star or Pop Century -- both fun, clean, and convenient. You can catch the bus to all the parks rather than worrying about parking and car rentals.

Dining -- we loved House of Blues and really, just about anything at Downtown Disney. There's a drive-in theater-style restaurant at MGM too -- I forget the name of it, but if someone else has it, it's a FUN atmosphere and great burgers.

I'd do Animal Kingdom the day you land. There are fewer major attractions at that park than at the others and it can usually be done in half a day. I'd allow a full day for MK, Epcot, and MGM. Don't miss the end-of-day stuff, either -- MK parade, Epcot fireworks, and MGM Fantasmic water show. All fantastic.

Pleasure Island is a HOOT.

Of the water parks, we've found Blizzard Beach to be cleaner and more exciting than Typhoon Lagoon.

If I ever do it again with adults, I'm absolutely sure that I will stay somewhere right behind EPCOT. Boardwalk, Y. Club or one of those right by the Boardwalk. Easiest access to all the rest, least going back/forth time. Best dining options, although the high end place at A.K. is good too. A.K. is the only more distant commute. Some rave about Disney Institute too.

I would get a combo deal staying on site Disney and commute to Universal or go stay at Universal overnight- the last night and get there fast pass deal.

The most fabulous shrimp I've ever had can be found at Hemmingway's at the Grand Cypress Hyatt. (Collosol coconut fried.) Great atmosphere and service, too.
A nice hotel for you both might be the Buena Vista Palace. It is not too expensive, is within walking distance to Downtown Disney, and has a fairly reasonable (comparatively!) spa.

Even though All Stars isn't by Epcot, the Disney transportation is really good and runs pretty frequently. I was also thinking about the Best Western and Comfort Inn at Lake Buena Vista would be worth checking into.

As adults we love staying at the Swan/Dolphin. It's more adult oriented. Only a short walk to the Boardwalk and you can even walk to MGM or Epcot or take the Friendship Boats. We love eating at the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk.

We just got back from WDW yesterday. We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, which we loved. The location was great in that it was a very short walk (less than 5 minutes) to the back gate of Epcot. Plus the boardwalk area is very nice and there are lots of restaurants and such. You can see the firework shows from the balcony there too.

My family and I stayed at Comfort suites on Turkey Lake Road, they offer a senior rate, have a nice pool, public washing machines and a cute little Tikki Bar by the pool (with burgers, etc.) free breakfast and van to WDW. They rooms were clean and more than you need in orlando

Oh, and we also stayed at the Hard Rock when we were going to Univlers and Isle of Adventure, it was worth the extra price to get express passes to the park and you can walk or take the boat
