tucson restaurants

I have to chose restaurants for a group of 15 for five nights. Money is truly no object. Would appreciate recommendations for places with haute cuisine as well as those with wonderful Mexican food and any other restaurants with delicious food.

Tucson has some wonderful restaurants. SOme of my favorites include: Cafe Poca Cosa, Janos or J Bar, North, Wildflowers, Barrio, Mi Nidito (not very fancy, in South Tucson, but great Mexican food. Clinton ate there when he visited Tucson), Soleil, Ovens, Ventana Room, Bluefin, Bistro Zin. What part of town will you be staying in? Tucson is very spread out!

We will be at Westward Look--but will have transportation. What type of food do North, Wildflowers and Soleil have and in what part of town are they located? I recall one of the best meals I have ever had was at the Ventana Room in the late 90s--I guess it is still good.

North is northern Italian but with a very modern twist. Wildflowers and Soleil both have continental/southwest/haute cuisine kind of food. Of the three Soleil and North have the best ambience, in my opinion and both are close to Westward Look. Actually, all three are close. For a casual dinner, I love the Lookout Lounge - on the patio overlooking the city - right there at the Westward Look.

My daughter got married in Tucson and we had the wedding dinner at Hacienda del Sol. The food was excellent and it was lovely.

Call for reservations at Cafe Poca Cosa. My group thought it was wonderful. You WILL NOT be disapointed. Had dinner their 2 weeks ago. It's downtown and very easy to get to. Also, out in the area you will be staying (NORTH) is the Terra Cotta either on Sunset or Skyline.

Cafe Terra Cotta is on Sunrise which turns into Ina. I am not a fan but the atmosphere is beautiful.

Just visited Tucson last week. My favorite restaurant was the J Bar, but it is a bit small and since you say that money is no object, maybe its more upscale counterpart Janos would be a good spot for you.

Great shrimp flautas at Cafe Terra Cotta.

I was a bit disappointed in Barrio and while thought the food a Mi Nidito was pretty good, I'd probably try somewhere else for great Mexican food.

Have fun!
