Restaurants in Phoenix, Mesa, etc.

Hello!

Next weekend I am heading up to Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, Sedona, and Flagstaff with a friend who does not eat pork, beef or poultry. He will eat fish and dairy products. Any suggestions for good places to eat with those restrictions?

Our family enjoys eating at any one of a chain of restaurants called Sweet Tomatoes. You will find them in Phoenix, Tempe, and Tucson. Big on do-it-yourself salads, soups, hot breads, etc. Very reasonably priced, spotless clean, big selections, informal.

Check out In-Season Deli in Tempe on Mill Avenue, if it is still in business. Very fresh and delicious. Very casual - salads, soups. Close to ASU. Also, and Middle Eastern restaurant - Haji Baba, also in Tempe, close to ASU. Pretty casual.

Mexican food heavy on cheeses, chiles etc may fill the bill.
Ethiopian restaurant in Tempe near Mill ave is veggie. Indian cuisine, middle east restaurants near ASU and Tempe are abundant.
Sweet Tomatioes is essentially an all you can eat buffet; it is okay but a nothing very special.
Lots of good sushi to try. For specifics, check out local eating guides or the new times cafe section.

In Tempe we eat a couple of times a month at Longhitano's, a family Italian restaurant with excellent food. Located on the SE corner of McCLintock & Elliot

Try Salt Cellar for seafood, it's on Hayden road between Scottsdale and Tempe, Sea Saw on Stetson, in Old Town Scottsdale for outstanding Japanese food, Richardsons in Phoenix for GREAT New Mexican food. Los Dos Molinos in South Phoenix has great aithentic Mexican food, it is very hot, and very unique, try any of our great restaurants but Please do not do Sweet Tomatoes, it's so average.
