Forget the trolly, it stops at just about every hotel on the strip, and the trip can take an eternity if you're not the first stop.
Take the city bus (CAT) and if you're heading from the strip to downtown or Circus Circus area, try to get the express which will save you some time.

I second the forget the trolley post. I used it one time, would never do it again. Not only does it take a very long time, but it is terribly uncomfortable. The seats are hard wood and the thing rides like a school bus over speed bumps.

The trolley is $1.65, exact change needed. The bus is $2.00. For only .35 cents you don't want the inconvenience of the trolley. The stops are not on the strip, but tucked in somewhere behind the hotels, and it takes forever to get from one place to another.
The bus # 301 runs along the strip, stops on the strip in front of the hotels, it runs 24 hours every 15 minutes.
And yes, I agree with the previous poster - the trolley seats are bad, your bum gets too bummed by the time you get to your destination
Bus seats are soft.

I enjoyed the Trolly for and experience, but would ride the bus next trip. We had some wonderful entertainment on the trolly and will cherish the memory, but it was uncomfortable. $1.65 exact change is required and the stops are as described previously. You might want to try them both as cab fare can be a bit high.
