Troll free zone?
Has anyone else noticed the improvement on the board in the last week or so? It got a little gritty there for a while, but things seem peaceful around here.
Thanks, editors!

I dunno, starrsville, I got an email from another poster just tonight that threatened to make me regret it if I addressed her on Fodors! All because I thought she gave bad advice and told her so. The worst thing is she is a long-time poster. Not anyone that most people would call a "troll" but give me a troll any day to people who stalk me!
Scarlett, didn't you have to take your email address off your screen name because of some weirdo bothering you on Fodors?

I've only had good experiences with providing my email of Fodors thus far. I did get a mean email once on another message board so I copied and pasted it for all to see. And the scary thing about that one was that my email was not posted publicly (another email addy). One thing I've noticed is that sometimes people write even when they don't post regularly on a website

Excellent suggestion travelinwifey! Mermaid, why not post the comment for all to read. If that fodorite was willing to put it in writing to you, that text is now yours to do with what you wish. So why not let them air their comment in public instead of hiding in an e-mail?

mermaid, I saw that thread and I saw that email and I agree, you should post it here.
I was emailed once by a man who just hated the thought that I posted a recipe thread on a Travel Forum. His was on the Smutty side, but at least he did not threaten to "make me regret it!"
And now on Fodors, he will even say something positive to me when we agree on something..
Hopefully the editors will have an idea of how to deal with people who email threats..over a luggage tag, of all things!

After reading the luggage tag squabble, I retract my OP. I agree. Threats via email by Fodor's regulars are far more disturbing than teenagers getting obscene on this board.
It's just a shame.

I got into a bit of a flame-up on the Canada board with somebody who posted something that sounded, without being too specific, rather bigoted. It was prefaced with "I've got nothing against *****, but ..." and I couldn't help but comment. Another poster joined in, essentially supporting my view. The person who had made the comments responded with absolute venom, which only served to underline the bigotry in their first post. Fodors editors have now pulled that entire segment of the thread, but not the original post (which was a question that had nothing to do with the subject of the bigotry). I thought that was pretty classy.

The only ugly post I'd noticed recently was on the US board re an unsatisfied Disneyworld customer. So for starrsville's original question it is not only peaceful it is a bit dull. (don't read the Canada board so missed that one.)
