Trip Report Suggestions

I'm working on my trip report for our recent Washington State trip but I have a question. I remember seeing a few reports where the poster typed the trip report and then copied and pasted it to Fodor's, and it ended up having weird question marks and stuff in place of quotes, etc. I can't remember exactly what the problem was but I remember reading that there is a solution! So, can someone help me out here. I want to type the trip report in Word. Is there anything special I need to do before transferring it over to keep the strange punctuation marks and stuff from happening?

Thanks!

I just type in several installments as time allows. Can't help w/the transfer as I've not tried that w/a large document.

I think (think!) that you're supposed to use Notepad...that Word is the problem. Anyone else remember this?

Otherwise, don't worry, we'll just ignore those question marks that appear in weird places!

Yes, using notepad to type instead of word will eliminate that problem. You can always copy from notepad into word later if you want to keep a copy in word format.

I use Word for mine and just type a day of the trip at a time (although my daily installments are long and detailed) and then transfer it by each day's installment. Have never had a problem.

AustinTraveler~
Make use of paragraphs, please. It is enough to make a person go blind reading endless uninterrupted text!

Don't worry, I'm a big believer in paragraphs!

I'll use Notepad and get busy now.

Thanks again everyone!!

After learning the hard way (like putting someting too close to a colon and getting this I learned to preview my reply before hitting the button. That way, I don't look like a complete idiot, lol.

You'll find too that if your trip report is very long, and you go back to edit in corrections after using the preview function, for some very weird reason, the edits don't take and it posts as you originally wrote it.
