transportation laguardia to jfk

we are arriving on a saturday morning 8;30 am. to laguardia and flying out at 12:30 p.m. from jfk (4hour layover), will that give us enough time for the transfer and what is the cheapest way to transfer? We are a family of 5 travelling with a family of 4. Any tips etc..

As long as your inbound plane is not delayed and you move quickly getting your luggage you should be OK.

For your group the shuttle (actual travel time is no more than 30 minutes unless there is some sort of accident/massive back-up for some reasons - and usually isn;t on a Sat AM) is the best choice.

One family of 5...and other family of 4???? How much luggage?

Your best bet would be to call a car service (212 777-7777) and arrange for 2 vans. A NYC taxi only will take 4 passengers...you'll need 3 cabs... and whatever luggage will fit in the trunk.

I agree with luv2fly. Arrange for private transport for all of you.

Forget the shuttle. It is as costly for two to take the shuttle as it is to take a taxi. You could probably get four taxis for the cost of 9 shuttle tickets (although admittedly I don't know about kids' prices). I agree with a car service or hired van service. But if worst comes to worst, even three taxis wouldn't be a bad thing.

It is 10 miles from LGA to JFK, all highway. On a Saturday morning the trip should take no more than 20 minutes. If one of the passengers is a young child the taxi driver will probably take five. The taxi fare will be around $25 a taxi, not including a tip.

It's against the law for a taxi to carry five passengers -- unless the 5th is an infant carried by a parent.

Call a car service and request two mini-vans. I used Carmel today -- 212-666-6666 and often do with no problems.
