Thanks for the help, and sorry. Guess I need to give more specifics here. I'm heading out to the Huntington area, but I know how to get there, that's not a problem. I also should have mentioned that my co-worker goes right past EWR on his way home to DC, so going there would not be out of the way - for him, anyway!! For me, however, I figured it would be. So, anyway, here's what I need to do: Leave West Point around 4, have him take me to Stewart, and then head to Huntington. I've driven once to/from from WP to LaGuardia, but I forget what route I took. It got packed around the stadium - that I DO remember, although I don't think there was a game there at the time!! I recently drove from White Plains up to Highland Falls (simple, but it was at midnight - little traffic). So all in all, from what you both are saying, and the fact that I'm going to Nassau (right?) county, I think I should probably head down the thruway and hit the Tappan Zee, or (think I like this best), go across the river at either Beacon or Bear Mountain and head through Westchester County down to the Throgs Neck. (Then I just want the LIE? What would be my best route, do you think, given that I'd be leaving Stewart around 4:30 on a summer Friday?

Thinking about it more I would do Thruway S, across the Tapp, continue East on 287 through White Plains to I684, then across the Throgs Neck. The Degan (I87) around GWB approaches are bad in all directions, so avoid that area at all cost.
Taking I84 across to Beacon then I684S at Brewster will take a more round about route, but will also require less navigating. You pick up I84 right at Stewart as well.
