Town and Country Resort San Diego
Need info on the Town and Country Resort in San Diego. Heard some negative comments and would like to know more. Will be there for a meeting in May and prefer to stay in meeting hotel (T& C Resort)rather than another. Thanks!

I haven't lived in S.D. in for 25 years. It existed when I lived there. In other words, it is old, use to be "the place." Location is good for conventions and meetings. In a busy location, easy access to attractions. I am sure it has been renovated several times over.

I agree with the above posters. It really is several older hotels brough together for the resort. The location is very good if you are attending a conference there. Last time I stayed across the freeway (it was nicer) and it was not convenient for going back to your room during breaks etc. This location is easy acess to the trolley also.

Town and Country is using the word "resort" rather loosely. As others have pointed out, it is used largely for conventions and conferences. Although functional, it is not plush. It is an old hotel (most of the hotels in the Hotel Circle area are old), but I know they refurbished it not too long ago.

I agree about the comment about "resort". It it very safe and convenient to everything, including walking distance to Fashion Vally Shopping Center and to the trolley for which you could ride to Old Town and Gaslamp downtown. Originally it was named "resort" because of its size and it had SD's original convention center before the new one was built. There's a small golf course right there also.
I think you'll be fine staying there - enjoy!!!

I just ran a search and found this post. I'll be at this hotel next month, and had a quick question - is there a decent pool area at this hotel? My husband will be attending a convention but I'll be working on my tan during the day! Just want to be sure the grounds are nice.....
Thanks!
Thanks!

We stayed there about 3-4 years ago and it was fine. Not fancy, but definitely not bare bones or worn either. We spent quite a bit of time by the pool and that was great. They had the carts of towels right there so you didn't have to bring your room towels. We were there visiting family in a hospital, so it really wasn't "vacation"...but since your husband will be busy with his meetings it would be perfect. Plus you can walk through the back to the shopping mall...no need to drive.

The mall behind the hotel, within walking distance, is The Fashion Valley Mall, and it is great! I love the gyros at the foodcourt, there is a Starbuck's and Cinnabon shop, too. If you need a convenient place to have dinner, there is also a California Pizza Kitchen, PF Chang's and Cheesecake Factory. Oh, and there is also an 18 screen movie theater, if you are interested. Have a great visit!
