ALL of Toledo is bad, but especially downtown. Think of it as "little Detroit"

We have stayed at Maumee Bay Lodge and found it delightful. The kids loved the huge outdoor pool with high dive (and lifeguards) and the indoor pool was also quite large. We adults enjoyed the pool grille / bar and walking the nature path (2 miles or more) to the nature center.
(agree about *Toledo* though!)

Thanks again to everyone for all of the help. Unfortunately, it's all a moot point. Although we did make reservations for Toledo, we wound up having to drive straight through from Syracuse today. Long story short, my husband cracked a wisdom tooth and we had to rush back so that he can get to an appointment with an oral surgeon tomorrow morning.

However, I will file all of this away for another time!

Toledo is a great place if you know what to look for.
If you are spending the day I would say go to the zoo and the museum. If you like nature parks you could go to one of the metroparks, oak openings is the best and wildwood is also nice. A medhens game is always a nice option.
Where to eat: on the shores of the Maumee there are some nice resaurants with great views. "the docks" include Navy Bistro, Zias (Italian), and Real Seafood Co. all of which are great places. Also downtown and delicious but much pricier are Rockwells (a steakhouse) and Divas.
For a downtown nightlife, try either Murpheys Jazz Club or Manhattans, both of which always have live music.
Hotels in the downtown area: The Wyndham is lovely and probably the nicest. Stay clear of The Toledo Hotel or some kind of name like that the Raddison is wonderful and connected to the seagate center so you may get luckey and have something you are interensted in going on there.
Oh, and just a side note to end my banter. Toledo built a new baseball park...I think it is called 5/3 field. It is downtown and was actually voted the nicest stadium in the minor leagues. Hope this helps if you ever end up there.

Oh, and I think it has been a while since some of the others have visited Toledo, their info seems quite dated. As for the lebonese: The beruit is GREAT!!!!
