Learntoread, doesn't your sister's attitude about spanking really point to how differently parents perceive spanking, swatting, slapping, etc? I bet she still believes she's never spanked her child. Just like our pevious leader had a problem with the definition of what "is" is and what sex is?

No wondering too, she's changed her tune. With inquisitive little boys it's sometimes necessary to intervene quickly, and she's realized that all her good intentions about trying to reason instead of "spank" have sometimes gone out the window. By the way, her son never went for the outlet again. My point is that even the most well intentioned parent will have to bend their rules, in this case for the safety of the child. I certainly wouldn't label her an advocate for "corporal punishment" any more than I would myself. Yes I have had to resort to a slap on the wrist once or twice and I don't feel guilty (it was appropriate for the situation), nor do I feel it had ANY negative impact on my child. In fact it was the best thing to do in the situation. I deeply resent those posters here labeling people like myself an others as "child beaters, advocates for spanking, etc." I am NOT an advocate for any of the above, only a parent who at times needs to make a quick decision about the most appropriate response in a given situation. I'm betting that I speak for many. Oh, and maybe little Johnny never hit his sister again once he knew what it felt like. Just a thought.

Sometimes it is good instruction to the child to torture the babe for hours on end. It brings such joy!

I won't call you spanking advocates pinheads, but that's where I see you dancing. LOL, but getting crowded? Your rationales are becoming more convuluted. No wonder ... spanking almost demands an explanation. Normally, I like to keep it fun, but you spanking advocates are no fun at all. Next, somebody will advocate spousal abuse, and I'm sure one or two of you losers will find some support for it. "ciao"

Don't you ever give up Leone? O.K., your right. About everything. I must have had a momentary lapse in sanity to disagree with any of your views or opinions. I admit that I slapped my child once so please, please, please, can you get me the help I so desperately need? And I've even been entertaining the idea of spanking my wife. Is that a bad thing? I don't think she'd mind.
Forgive me for ever countering your arguments. You have the absolute correct views on EVERYTHING. Your way is the right way. Your a genius! Can you ever forgive me? You are all-wise and all-knowing about all things and I promise not to ever disagree with anything you say. You are right, right, right. About EVERYTHING. All the time. Nobody knows better than you Leone.

Now will you shut up?

Why all the arguing? Can't we all get along. And, anyway, the best steaks are cooked outside on your grill. I can out-grill Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Sizzler, Rustler, any of those damned places. Got my wife out there and my kids half-drowning themselves in the cold tub--what's not to like. And with the propane grill, I can grill year round. Lotsa fun.

Jeez, can somebody puleeze turn off that blithering idiot who seems to have gone quite overboard about agreeing with someone named Leone, whoever the hell she is. I've read this thread for two days, and it's totally crap. All the kid bashers, what a lot. Jesus, I'd be ashamed to admit what you are saying, if I were you. Look, agreeing blatherer, your grammar is rotten too. It's you're, not your. The European is better, and that's where I'm headed right now. Big mistake coming over to this crummy thread. Now why don't you all shut up and give Fodors a rest. Boneheads.

Leone,
Now I know I've always told you that your the smartest and best son, haven't I? Remember when you used to come home from school crying because the other kids were making fun of you? Thats, right, remember, they don't know anything. You are getting just a little bit irritating now though. You do want to have friends don't you? Now give mommy some sugar when you get home tonight!
