Tips on Houston, TX
So I want to bring my mom to see Lakewood Church and Joel Osteen in Houston.
Which airport should we fly into?
Best area to stay downtown or Galleria area for a visitor?
Any transporation to Lakewood on Sundays?
Thanks

Hobby is the closer airport to where you are going (also a smaller airport, so easier to get in and out of), but your choice of airport may also be dictated by where you are flying from.
I would stay in the Galleria area as a visitor, which is also fairly close to Lakewood.
I don't have any info on transportation to Lakewood on Sunday's, although depending on how long you plan to be in town and what else you plan to do, it might make sense to rent a car.

They don't offer transportation that I'm aware of; I agree with hockeyfan that you should consider renting a car - will make it much easier for you to get around. You would be okay flying into either airport. Hobby is pretty small; Intercontinental/Bush would probably give you a much better selection of flights.

If you go on the Lakewood website and do a search for hotels, it lists several and also says they give discounts for people visiting Lakewood based on availability.
Check out Hilton Americas Downtown, Holiday Inn Select, InterContinental Houston Hotel, La Quinta Greenway Plaza, Omni Hotel, Renaissance Hotel Greenway Plaza, Residence Inn-McCue, and Sheraton Suites on the West Loop South. You can check out tripadvisor.com for reviews and pictures.

The hotel that's closest to the Summit, er I mean Compaq Center, er I mean Lakewood Church is the Renaissance. I'll say that's basically the only one within walking distance.
There are three bus routes that serve Greenway Plaza.
#78 direct from Downtown runs about every 45 minutes on Sundays.
#25 from the Wheeler Transit Center (connect to/from Metrorail) about every 30 minutes on Sundays.
#53 from both Downtown and Galleria about every 40 minutes on Sundays.
So, it's not impossible to use public transportation to/from most major hotels.
And there are also shuttles and public buses from either airport to Downtown or the Galleria Area.
But of course, Houston is a place where you really should get a car.
