Where to stay near Sacramento Airport
Can anyone recommend a nice Hotel near the Sacramento Airport, preferably with or near a nice restaurant/bar? Or...just any recommendations re a Hotel? A good (or outstanding!) Restaurant???
We will be staying the first night at the Delta King, and then traveling on to the mountains and to Yosemite, and then returning to Sacramento for a final night's stay. Our plane doesn't leave until 10:30 the next morning, but we'll have a rental car to return.
I've read a little about the Radisson, but not sure how close it is to the Airport. Thanks for any help you can provide. eb from Texas

There are not hotels close to the airport, the airport sits out by itself. I believe there is one on-site hotel, but I'm not sure what it is. Stay at a nice place in Sacramento. I think there is a new Embassy Suites on the Sacramento River by Old Sacramento, which is where the Delta King is located also.

There is one (really crappy) hotel right at the airport. I would not recommend it. Any of the hotels in downtown area are 15 minutes from the airport. The Radisson is a nice property, but a bit isolated. If I were you, I'd stay downtown at the Hyatt, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, or Embassy Suites.

Agree with the others. The Radisson, while a pretty fair place is not convenient to the airport by any stretch. I can't believe that some airport hotel guides direct the unknowing to this hotel. It's located on 160 which is more like an expressway that takes you from business 80 to the downtown area but it's not really easy for the traveler to navigate the streets to get to I5 or 80 and then onto the airport. It's best to stay along I5 or close to it. Embassy is a good choice and so are Sheraton and Hyatt. If you are looking at more budget places there are many along I5 between downtown and the interchange of 80 and I5. La Quinta off Richards from I % near downtown and Hawthorne Suites at the same exit.

All, Thanks for the great advice! It sounds like the Embassy Suites would be a great choice! Any recommendations re great restaurants around there???
Also, would like to squeeze in one more question - since we're staying at the DeltaKing the first night in Sacramento - would you recommend their dinner theater/show...or going to a different restaurant? Thanks again for so much great advice! eb from Texas

The dinner theater is fun but the food is only OK. Not terrible or anything but not anything special.
Nearby are better places - The Rio City cafe, Joe's Crab Shack, either Fat place (California Fat's or Fat City) are all w/i Old Sacramento and a minute or so walk from the Delta King. The Firehouse is only a block farther and is very good - but also pricier than the others.

janice thank you so much for your prompt response! I love your suggestions re restaurants! I think I read something about a "Baba's" also....or something similar? I think I wrote it down as well as the Firehouse. We live in a very rural area in Texas so when we go to Houston a visit to Joe's Crabshack is a treat..so when we are in California we'd like to try something different. Thank you again for your help!!!!!! e

That would be Biba's. Biba's is considered by many to be the best restaurant in Sacramento. I didn't include it because it is 25 blocks from Old Sac. But it would be a great place to eat.
The ones I mentioned are basically across the street or right next door to the Delta King.
The Crab Shack is brand new to Sacramento so still a treat for most of us

I know what you mean about Joe's - they're great! I just wish we had one a little nearer to where we live. Everyone on this forum has been so great with their advice!
We're really looking forward to our California trip (Sacramento, Arnold, and Yosemite)! Again, Thanks to All! eb from Texas
