Tipping the concierge for theater tickets
I know there have been lots of questions on tipping and I have read most of them, but I would appreciate an answer to my specific question. We are going to NY for the weekend and the concierge at our hotel has organised 4 tickets to Hairspray. He has made a number of phone calls back and forth as he had originally booked tickets for Sunday night (I had asked for Sunday afternoon but he misunderstood) and so he had to change the tickets.
I want to leave a good tip for him as He has been excellent)but am not sure if what I consider to be a good tip is correct. Do you think that $30 or $40 is a good tip? My friend also had him book 4 tickets and will leave the same amount.
Thanks for your opinions.

Are you getting the tickets at their face value or have they been marked up? I would think that right now getting the tickets to Hairspray would be worth the extra $10 a ticket especially if he's not already charging you extra, so $40 for the four tickets is not out of line.
