Hotels that have tickets to tapings...
Does anyone know which hotels (or know a list of which hotels) have tickets to tapings of Conan and Letterman? I read that 300+ tickets get sent out to hotels. Is this kept a secret for a reason?

Go to the CBS Website and sign up for standby tickets if you know the dates of your NYC stay. Maybe the tickets are sent to the concierges? I can't imagine why they would randomly send tickets to hotels. That would be taking a big chance the shows would fill up the audience.

A good conceirge will have contacts at a variety of places in order to secure tickets for guests. You might want to call your hotel and ask them if they can help. BTW, if the person does get tickets for you, a tip is usually customary.

Thanks guys,
I guess it all comes down to whether or not there is a concierge at the Martinique. Does anyone know if they have one? I doesn't say so on their website.
Also, having read the post about this very thing, what would a sufficient tip be for a concierge getting us these tickets? Would $10.00 cover it, or is that chintzy?

I really doubt a concierge can help you with Letterman tickets. While staying at the Waldorf, the fellow in front of me shook hands with the concierge there, depositing a very large denomination bill in his hand, all folded, up as he inquired about Letterman tickets. The concierge handed the bill back, along with a printed sheet of the same directions for standby tickets at the website.
It doesn't stand to reason that ANY tickets are "sent out to hotels", since more tickets than seats are issued for each taping, and even having a ticket does not guarantee that you'll get in.

8 years ago, my husband tried to buy us some Letterman tickets from people standing in line right before the show. He offered $500 a piece (it was our anniversary and 1st time in NYC) and only found one taker in the WHOLE LINE. That was after trying ticket agents in advance to no avail.
Now, Letterman is not what he once was, but I doubt tickets are being thrown away like that even now.
