My parents have generously given my fiancee and I their timeshare in Hawaii, and we will be going in Feb '06. We have decided on Maui, but are having trouble selecting a timeshare from among the choices. We thought about the Embassy at Kaanapali until we read about all the kids, which is not what we want for our honeymoon. Our other choices are: Kahana Falls in Lahaina, Maui Lea at Maui Hill, and the WorldMark Kihei. Can anyone share their experiences at these places so that we can get an idea of what to expect? We really want someplace with a great beach and pretty quiet. Thanks for your help with this!

If you want to avoid lots of kids (is that an issue? most spring breaks are a little later), I would say go to Maui Hill. The range of beaches is great there, too. Lahaina--no beaches to speak of, Kihei--a bit crowded, busy, noisy.

We loved the Embassy when we stayed there. Having a suite, plus free breakfast, plus great pool with slide on Kaanapali Beach seemed ideal to us. The lobby was cool with parrots and other birds. Isn't Maui Hill across the street from the beach? I guess I just prefer the luxury resort atmosphere a little better, especially for a honeymoon. I don't think the kid thing will be a big issue - anymore than it would be anywhere else...

I assume you mean that your parents have given you their week to swap. Look into it ASAP bcs we have found that it is nearly impossible to get swaps in popular places unless you request years ahead and, even then, it often doesn't work. Good luck.

First off, as somebody else said, you better get busy if you want to trade into Hawaii.

That being said, I've stayed right across the street from Kahana Falls. It's not really in Lahaina per se. It looks nice from the outside. The beach there isn't anything special and definitely not "scenic" or what most people think of when they think of Hawaii or "paradise". However, you're only 15 minutes tops from Napili Bay which is very nice and also has great snorkeling.

I don't think you could go wrong at Embassy or Kahana Falls. I'm not an enamored with the Kihei area.

I'm a vacation owner at the Embassy in Kaanapali, and have never found too many kids at that resort. As a matter of fact, I'm always surprised that no matter how full the resort is, there is always plenty of room and lounge chairs around the 1 acre pool. Kihei is awesome to visit, but I just love staying so close to Lahaina. I wish I was sitting on the rock wall there, eating shave ice and watching sea turtles right now! The resort is right on the beach, which we've never found to be crowded at all. I think this resort would be a wonderful place for your honeymoon! Best wishes, and thanks mom and dad!

Like the previous post I do not care for the Kihei area either. the Kaanapali beach area is great. I don't think the Kahana area has much of a beach. Embassy would be my pick, kids are in school in Feb. - the snow birds are in Hawaii in the winter.

Second the other posts -- at this late date you will be lucky to get anything in Hawaii, put down all the choices available in your network on your request to increase your chances and receiving a match. We stayed at the Embassy Aug 04 with our kids, it is a great full-service resort and definitely one of the better timeshare resorts on Maui. There are probably more kids there in the summer than February -- the short Feb school vacation is just not long enough for most people to travel to Hawaii.
