thoughts on doubletree metropolitan in NYC

hi fodorites,

wondering if anyone out there has any comments/thoughts/experiences with the doubletree metropolitan on 569 Lexington Avenue. i'm seeing a pretty fantastic rate of $127.20 from dec 18 - 23 ...

i've checked out TA and the reviews are mixed ... lots of folks complaining about old-ish decor, small bathrooms, etc. but really, for that price, i don't know what folks are expecting. and besides, it's NY ... i'm not coming to spend five nights stuck in my hotel room!

DH and i are thinking about going for a few nights before christmas ... i've been twice before and DH has never been. i don't need luxury ... i'm more keen on location and midtown is definitely where i want to be.

any thoughts would be much appreciated...

thanks!

For that price, I'd say GRAB IT QUICK!!! This time of year is usually the most expensive, so sounds like the hotel is doing a special to fill up unbooked rooms.

Have a GREAT time.

I stayed there a couple of years ago...rooms were just OK, service was so-so, but the location was great (walk to Rock Center and Times Square, #6 train on the corner) and I would recommend it, especially at that price.

Great location. Pretty good hotel. Can't beat the price. I think that's a no-brainer.

DH stayed there last year - great location. Room was fine; clean and not as small as some we've seen in NYC.

We stayed there a couple of years ago and found it just fine for location and rooms. Housekeeping was excellent and decor was quite fresh.

We've stayed there before - no complaints! The hotel was remodeled a few years back, the rooms aren't huge but you seem to have reasonable expectations with that so you'll be fine. Clean hotel, good location, nice staff. Have a wonderful time!
