Things to do in New York during Thanksgiving

My husband and I will be in New York during Thanksgiving for a week.
What are some of the things that we should do?
We are planning to see the Macy's Parade, any other suggestions?
Thanks

Well, nobody can help you without any info about your interests, whether you have been there before, etc.

Maybe a guidebook would be a good place to start

When we spent time in other place during Thanksgiving eg Seattle
There all kinds of holiday events. Lighten of a Christmas tree in the downtown area. the Cities Top Chefs participate in a gingerbread House making competition etc.

For specific events, get a copy (bookstore or online) of Time Out New York.

Will you be there the week before or the week after Thanksgiving? The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, for example, will be lit the Wednesday AFTER Thanksgiving.

I would go the Christmas market at Bryant Park and maybe go ice skating (free, but you do have to pay for skate rental). The whole place is magical at night - very Christmasy.

And don't forget the store windows - my favorite has always been Lord & Taylor, but there's also Macy's, Saks, I think Barneys.

Thanks sf7307
We will be there from Nov 21st to the 30th.
We're from the Los Angeles area and we don't have the Christmas store windows displays.Look forward to seeing them.

How about the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes - we went last year and really enjoyed it.

Radio City Xmas Spectacular? Discounts should be available on the left column of broadwaybox.com or by using one of these codes. http://www.retailmenot.com/view/radiocitychristmas.com

Going to the balloon blowup the night before is popular. Be aware that the parade route has been changed this year.

I do recommend a trip to St Paul's chapel near the WTC site. There is a very brief prayer service(for peace and reconciliation) each day @ 12:30. The service begins with a series of bells played for fallen firefighters. There is also an exhibit there of the days, weeks and months in the aftermath of 9/11. St Paul's was a refuge for rescue workers.
