If you like good food, please don't go to Big Bear. Lake Arrowhead has good dining choices, but Big Bear.. not so much. I'm not sure if the ski resorts' mountain biking trails are open that late in the season, but you can check here: www.bigbearmountainresorts.com/biking.php
Hiking would be available on the Pacific Crest Trail. www.pcta.org/ and many other places.
The Palm Springs/Desert region has lots of great restaurants. Hiking options include:
Indian Canyons www.palmsprings.com/points/canyon/
Trails at the top of the Aerial Tram: www.pstramway.com/
Joshua Tree National Park: www.nps.gov/jotr/index.htm
There are areas closer to LA that provide hiking and biking opportunities, such as:
Santa Monica Mountains - www.nps.gov/samo/planyourvisit/index.htm
Palos Verdes Peninsula - http://www.terranea.com/palos-verdes...-vacations.php

In Orange County the Bolsa Chica Lagoon is nice for a jog, in LA Griffith Park.
I also like hiking Torrey Pines & Joshua Tree but they are about 2 hrs away.
In LA I don't feel comfortable hiking alone in the Santa Monica Mtns for security reasons. You might want to meet up with the Sierra Club.

Food is not a problem. It's an embarassment of riches. Tell us where you are staying and what kind of food you like.
