Hey Julie,

Sorry, but my wife and I didn't go to either the Old Lahaina Luau or the Warren & Annabelle show while we were there. They were both in our plans before we went, but when we actually got there we didn't want to give up any of the remaining available sunlight to see them. If I recall correctly, they both started between 5 and 6.

As far as dinner suggestions, we ate at Mama's Fish House following our Road to Hana trip and would highly recommend it. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was just as nice.

We also ate at Sarento's on the Beach in Kihei. The food was very good only to be topped by the spectacular sunset views.

We went to the Old Lahaina Luau and had a GREAT time! We also went to one on Oahu and thought this one was 10 times better. When you first walk in, you get a lei, a mai tai and your picture taken. The food was outstanding (dessert could have been better), the drinks were fantastic. Since there's an open bar, you get to sample all kinds of tropical libations! Get there early, parking fills up VERY quickly. I can't say enought good things about it.

The show was after the dinner and it was excellent. Definitely not cheesy like the one we attended in Oahu. It was explosive with music and dancing. Get traditional seating. Those are the best seats in the house!

Julie-

My wife and I did not go to the Old Lahaina Luau or the Warren & Annabelle show. Tell us how it is when you get back and we might try it next time.

My dinner recommendation is Nick's Fishmarket at the Kea Lani. This was the best service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. The food was top-of-the-line too. On a scale from 1-10, I give it a 9.9. It's very pricey, but you're in Maui so indulge. Have a safe trip.

Just a couple of pointers. 1. bring 2-3 meals and snacks and drinks. not much food along the way except fruit. 2. start as early as possible, like others i left the hotel at 7:00 am and returned at 7:00 pm. (3. You hear of black sand beaches well we found several along the way so stop and look. 4. Dont worry about rental car agreement, ( they wont come get you anyway if you break down , they reimberse you for expenses) drive all the way arround its actually easier than turning back. 5.Dont forget film 3 rolls ( you will need it) It was an experience i will never forget , and one you will never forget. nick

Well, I just found out the Old Lahaina Luau is sold out thru April 12, but I did get on a waiting list. Has anyone been to the Hyatt Luau or the Feast at Lele? The Feast at Lele is rather expensive and sounds a bit fancy.

Julie, We stayed at the Hyatt and peeked in on the Luau. I can't say it is one I would recommend even though we didn't actually go to it. It was white plastic patio chairs shoved extremely tight together with white plastic tables and lots of people. The show looked like the typical overblown luau show with the fire dancing and stuff. I'm sure it was fun, but I wouldn't make it a priority. It just looked like a giant tourist trap. The feast at Lele' is a fancier version of the Old Lahaina Luau. For me it was too pricey. We went to Old Lahaina and it was good. All Luau's are overpriced and don't put too much stock in the entertainment value. But they are enjoyable and make for a nice festive evening. But you could certainly fill your time in Maui with other things and I guarantee that you won't have missed too much if you didn't get to see a luau.

We had 1/2 price tickets, with our hotel reservations to feast of lele is was nice, not as nice as old lahaina luau but enjoyable. The le le luau does boast the best fire (dancer), cant remember his name but he was great. nick
