I'd go with the Ritz for your family (although not a good place for people without kids)... see my trip report at:

There is a more recent report from a family that had a great time!

tinamidon,
Our little girl is 2 and we thought it would be fun to do something big for first beach experience. OK, I'm lying! We do want to take her to the beach but we also want to be pampered! We are thinking about going in August - the rates at both hotels are reduced...but after reading about both properties - it seems the Breakers has lots more to do.
Any other info would be helpful!

We stayed at the Breakers, and checked out the Ritz, which is off the beaten path if you want to explore West Palm, Palm and Worth Ave. Originally we thought we liked the Ritz more, but there is something about staying at a true Grand Dame Hotel, and you can walk to Worth or Palm Beach area, or take shuttles from the Breakers. Only thing we hated, was a convention going on during our stay. Ask ahead of time about your dates. So yes Breakers, unless it is overrun with a Huge group.
