This is very difficult for me, as the reason I go to a restaurant is to test their desserts (don't order an appetizer, take half of your main course home...) but the one I remember best is chocolate cheesecake decades ago at Old Original Bookbinder's in Philadelphia. The place wasn't as bad of a tourist trap then, bless its heart, and I've never had any like it before or since.

Of course, there's also the fresh gingerbread with lemon cream that I had at Downhome Diner, Linda's flourless chocolate torte at Blue Ox Brauhaus, a toffee pudding in Scotland, meringues and cream in Switzerland, and my Aunt Jo's carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (which, alas, none of us will get anymore.)

Next time you're in San Antonio go to Paesano's on Basse and order the Apple Tart (comes with Caramel Sauce that will make you want to lick the plate) or the Rasberry Sorbet. I am definitely a dessert person and these two are still my favorites restaurant desserts.

Busy Bee cake from the Black Hound Bakery in NYC.

Three layers of chocolate butter cake, two layers of almond cake, two layers of bittersweet chocolate mousse, and one layer of marzipan - all covered in marzipan and bittersweet chocolate and decorated with marzipan-and-almond petal bees.

The Tartufo (Truffle ice cream) at Tre Scalini was incredible. This is a gelateria located at Piazza Navona in Rome, Italy). The gelato in Rome was also really delicious. The fruit flavors were very intense. I remember having a really great kiwi gelato.
