tell me something about nyny!

We've booked rooms with another couple at NYNY Casino for 4 nites in April. This will be my first time, but my hubby and the other couple have been many times. In fact, the other couple got comp rooms, which is why we are staying there. We're also taking 3 girls, ages 6 to 11 (first time ever for them) so we plan to pair off at different times (the two wives with the kids, two hubbys gamble, one couple with the kids, other couple gambles, etc). I've been on a few different boards but don't see much of anything good said about NYNY. I actually don't see too much bad, either (other than the rooms and pool are "just average"). Please give me some insight! Thanks!

We've never stayed there but our first stop on any Vegas trip is always the Irish pub at NYNY. The food is amazingly good and they often have live entertainment. Your girls will enjoy the 'look' of NYNY--it's built to look like an old-fashioned New York street (reminds me of Little Italy)--even the fake potholes have steam coming out of them.

No first hand experience, but I have read several posts about rooms that vibrated and felt the "noise" of the roller coaster going by day and night. Something to request an avoidance of.

My wife and I stayed at NYNY and enjoyed it. The rooms are fine, not fabulous. I only sleep there briefly anyway so it doesn't really matter to me. We love the dueling piano bar at NYNY. We also enjoyed Rita Rudner's show. Pretty much of a couples thing but clean enough for kids.

I enjoyed the roller coaster and did not hear it in the room. ESPNzone is a fun lunch place if you are into sports.

Coyote Ugly is not worth it. Perhaps if you are a hot 20something babe and dancing on the bar is your thing....Not a chair in the place. Stand or lean around and drink high priced cocktails.

The architecture is great and the outside NY landmarks are some of my favorites.

Also have eaten at several of the restaurants there including the high priced Gallaghers steakhouse. Fine but not worth it.

Visually I think it is an amazing hotel. I love th roller coaster, and I get a kick out of the 'subway station'. However, I find NYNY to be always crowded with tourists checking it out. It seems the elevators to the rooms are all over the place, I guess it depends on which tower you are staying in. I like to visit it, but wouldn't want to stay there.

Lori makes an interesting point about the elevators. I liked them that way because each tower has its own elevators. If you stay in the Chrysler tower, the elevators only go there. The rooms are never a long walk from the elevators. I consider this a plus.

NYNY is a fun and vibrant place. Yes lots of people come to check it out which means it is usually busy/active. I like that about Vegas and NYNY. I have other spots that I enjoy staying at as well but you should be very happy here.
