Taos,NM and vicinity: where to stay and go

Thinking of doing a 6 day trip at end of Sept... flying in to ABQ, then driving north to Santa Fe and Taos. We were in the area last Sept. for a 5 day trip and did Bandelier, Santa Fe (stayed there several days),Abiquiu Ghost ranch hiking, and Taos Pueblo (via high and low road towns). We liked it so much we are thinking of going back to spend more time in Taos... Would like suggestions about best places to stay in a mid-price range near or in town that would not have too much hiway noise. Also, should we see Taos Ski Valley, Angel Fire and that area?.How much time should we allow if doing he Enchanted Circle? We like to hike a little ( no all day or overnite backpacking) and enjoy museums and galleries. Is the funky looking Earthship community worth checking out? Thanks for suggestions!

Check this out and maybe it will give you some ideas.

Taos and Santa Fe are very different on many levels. It is much more rustic, far less sophisticated and has more "different" folks.

The colors should be nice around then, it may be a tad early for full foliage. Keep in mind, colors in NM are quite different than other area, like back East.

Do you want B&B or hotel or motel or condo to stay in? What is mid price, can you be dollar specific?
