Swiss Inn in Albany, NY??

Anyone from Albany out there who may know anything about the Swiss Inn (I think it's on Wolf Rd.) The price is so cheap and it's only rated something like a 1 1/2 star...scared it's a real dump. Should I keep looking? We're visiting Albany next month and looking for clean but reasonable lodging. Last time we were in Albany we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard which was perfect. Nothing fancy but clean and a good location. Any advice? Cindy

If on 44 Wolf Road (518-459-5670), the place you are looking at WAS SuisseChalet, but is now Park Inn. Most Susse Chalets have become Fairfield Inn (by Marriott) or Park Inns, it seems.

I stayed at other SuisseChalets and they all were at or above average on cleanliness, service, etc. I've not stayed at the Albany hotel, but it always appeared nice went I stopped inquiring about rates or for a directory.

It's a simple "rooms only" motel with nearby restaurants and Colonie Center Mall. I hope new ownership hasn't changed anything.

The only Wolf Rd hotel I'd have second thoughts about is one at the corner of Rt 5 & Wolf, and even that might be ok.

Thanks so much for your help. I'm going to rule Park Inn out. We now have a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express on New Loudon Rd. I hope this is a better choice?? The price is right and it includes Continental Breakfast, coffee makers in the room, iron and ironing board...little things that we like. Anyone familiar with this one? Thanks, Cindy

Stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Albany last year, it was a very nice hotel. Couldn't go wrong with that place.

Cindi- the Holiday Express was a late 60's era Holiday Inn that was extensively renovated. It looks nice, and I'm sure it is ... I can only say I've not heard any neg. things about it.

I can tell you it's not the closest place to the airport, but not too far either. There are some restaurants nearby (Century House, Kirkers) and a small "Factory Outlet Mall (Prime?)" It is pretty easy to get to on & off I-87 (Northway) exit 7.

And it appears with the amenities, you've made a good choice. I find most Holiday Inn properties pretty good these days.
