First of all, thanks to you all, I am now also hooked on Traveladvisor.com
I love the slick way you can check hotel availability on 4 different sites and they also have the "popularity index ranking" which brings me to this question. In the end I will probably book with Priceline for NYC but in the meantime I want to have a back-up booking because we are still 3 months away from travelling. The Super 8 Times Square is ranked #18 and Red Roof on 32nd St is ranked #45 and they are both $129.00. Which would you recommend? Thanks!

I have stayed at Super 8 Time Square twice in the past 8 months, once alone and once with wife and child. I love the location. It is pretty quiet, convenient to sights, transportation, food, groceries, the tourist office, and Broadway. The rooms are basic but not too small, and the service is pretty good. The free breakfast offers fruit, bagels, cereal, doughnuts, and other things. It is really hard to beat for the price.
