HELP me find a hote in Viennal!

HELP! I am having some difficulty trying to find a clean, inexpensive hotel in a good neighbourhood in Vienna. Would like to spend 120 Euros (max) and still be close to downtown. Thought I had found one but the rate I was given when booking was 40 Euros more than advertised. Am I asking the impossible??

If you really need help, why don't you just post some basic info here. When, where, how long, how many?

Did you try Pension Nossek? a clean, simple hotel right on the Grabben, which is the best location in the city.

We loved Pension Pertschy www.pertschy.com. My husband also has stayed at the Hotel Astoria and enjoyed that.

Roberta,
My sister and I were looking for similar suitable accommodation as you, and were told of a PENSION STADTPARK in Vienna. We duly stayed there, and enjoyed the accommodation, location and wonderful buffet breakfast. The price would fit in with your budget requirements (check on internet through Google) ... at least it was reasonably priced when we visited. The location is within a few minutes of the airport bus terminal station at Hilton Hotel. For info the address is Landstr. Haupstrasse 7, Eingang Untere Viaduktg. 59 and phone number 713 31 23(taken from their card but check full address on the website); I think the pension is located on the 4th floor, with a lift . One fault, it is not central Vienna!!!
Good luck with your searching....Jay

At this moment, there is a large choice of hotels in your price range, all have 4 stars many/most including breakfast. Try www.hrs.com. Those Mercure hotels look nice too. Anyway, if you book there you will pay nothing but the advertised price, taxes and fees included.

Re post by lomajay: obviously not in Vienna in a long time as the airport bus has not stopped by the Hilton in several years.
Many other hotels are much better located than Stadtpark .Look as logos999 mentions- many to select from look for ones with a postal code 1010. This is the First District ( Innenstadt ) and best located for tourists with easy access to tourist sights, restaurants, shopping etc.

I just returned from Europe yesterday and after staying at Starlight Suiten I have to say it was my favorite of all the hotels. I paid 139 euro per night but I think it is cheaper starting in October. The room was like a mini apartment, with seperate bedroom, living room area, wetbar and a very large bathroom. Breakfast was great too! Very good location...less than 10 minute walk to St. Stephan's and many other major attractions.

I got the Renaissance Wien on Priceline for US$60 per night. While it's not near the ring, it is on the edge of a nice residential neighborhood, it is right across the street from a U-bahn stop, and I was surprised how efficient it was to take U-bahn into the center - less than ten minutes! It's not the kind of hotel you can stroll back to after walking in Vienna, but if you can live without that, this is a great hotel for the price. See BiddingForTravel.com for reviews and details. (There are two Renaissance Hotels in Vienna - this is the West zone in Priceline terms.)

By contrast, I had another hotel in Budapest that was a lot further away from the center of Pest and a longer train ride, and I wouldn't recommend it. But the Renaissance was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend it.

Definately check with Priceline. I got Marriott for April06 for 3 nights at US$100 per night which is in the ring.
