Just scored the Hyatt Embarcadero on Priceline ($75) for Sunday (12-2) night in SF. We're doing a quick trip to see the holiday decorations in Union Square and to explore the Ferry Bldg Market again. Would like a recommendation for Sunday night dinner within walking distance of the hotel. Thinking warm and cozy, not necessarily upscale, but with good food. Any recommendations for breakfast near the Hyatt? Thanks a bunch!

Yang Sing on Spears Street if you like Dim Sum. They have a website.

Thanks John. We love Yank Sing, but it closes at 4:00 on Sunday. We may consider going there for lunch on Monday.

In the neighborhood of your hotel, I would personally choose Perbacco (one block up California Street), a very nicely appointed Italian restaurant with very good food.

Some others in the neighborhood include:

Osha Thai - very good Thai in a nicely decorated restaurant, right next door to the Hyatt.

Chaya - a block away (very popular, which is why I include it, but I don't actually like it much).

Ozumo - Japanese (also a block away). Active bar scene, although probably not on Sunday night. Good food.

Boulevard, Aqua and One Market - all three quite expensive. In my opinion, only Boulevard lives up to its hype.

Sens - haven't been yet. Middle Eastern. In Four Embarcadero, next to the Hyatt.

Again, my personal choice would be Perbacco.

Check out Sinbad. Not upscale, but the food is good.

Chef Steffan use to be the chef at Scala's Bistro at Union Square. His food is wonderful!

Is E&O trading within walking distance? It's on Sutter @ something like Stockton or Kearny or Grant.

You couldn't find a closer restaurant than Slanted Door, in the Ferry Building facing out on the bay.

It is a very nice Vietnamese restaurant catering to the yuppie crowd during the week, with a super-modern decor and a "busy" feeling.

You could check it out while you are in the Ferry Building if the web site doesn't answer all your questions about it.

Boulevard is also near your hotel, and it is a very elegant upscale restaurant with excellent food and service.

Well, actually, Osha Thai is closer than Slanted Door (But I'd still choose Perbacco)

If you feel like taking a stroll northward on the waterfront (direction away from the Bay Bridge), you could have dinner at Butterfly which is located at Pier 33. It's a nice place, not stuffy, has a lovely view over the water to the East Bay Hills. Here is the website: www.butterflysf.com

The menu at Kokkari looks great, Michael, but they're closed on Sundays.

Well, these aren't walking distance, but look at Cortez and Coco500, both are excellent. They're upscale, but not in the Boulevard/One Market/Aqua category. Also, Salt House gets decent reviews (I haven't been) and has availability on OpenTable.

We just came back from our anual SF Thanksgiivng shopping wkd.

E&O is great but it is near the other Hyatt near Union Square.(Where we stayed.)

We ate at McCormick and Kuletos at Ghiradelli. Pretty good almost whole menu tho was fresh fish..

I noticed the Boudin has a Cafe now..I think in Ghiradelli square as well.

While McCormick and Kuletos has mostly seafood on the menu, there were beef and chicken choices. I was there this past Saturday, and it was a good choice (I was part of a group of 12). Although, I really wanted Chinese food/ dim sum as EasyTraveler knows. My choice was voted down, LOL. I did get a tasty Irish coffee after dinner at the Buena Vista.
