Suggestions for BEST place to visit during New Years Eve in Florida?
Me and my husband live in Michigan and want to go somewhere warm. We are thinking about Miami or Ft Lauderdale.
Does anyone have any great hotel recommendations for 12/28/02 - 1/4/03?
Looking for something on the beach, upscale resort, with waterfalls in the swimming pool.
Thanks!!!!

We were in Marco Island last week - I live in New England, and do not want to be here after being in beautiful, 90 degree weather..... We stayed at the Marriott (point thing) which I wouldn't recommend because it's under construction - but I would definitely recommend Marco Island. The beach is wonderful! There were several other large hotels there (sorry, we didn't get to seem them), but it would be worth looking into. Another location I would recommend is Sannibel or Captiva. In Miami, I've stayed at the Fountainbleu - and that was nice.

My Dear Suzanne-
After discussing your question at one of my elegant dinner parties, the consensus among our group was that you probably simply can't afford it. Surely you'd already know if you could!
But please DO afford yourself of the suggestion to try California.

Just as above, your criteria calls out for Fountain Blue.
Don't stay at the Sheraton in Ball Harbor it is a huge ripoff, and next door a 30 story condo is under construction!
And besides no man should put his wife that close to the Bal Harbor Shops!
As for gourmet dining...almost all is in South Beach. Don't know what your budget is but if you don't mind 150 per couple, China Grill, Joia, or Pacific Times.
Most restaurants are tourist traps, unless you are a tourist type then you probably wont know any better!
If your on a budget try the always good cuban food at Davids Cafe (upscale cuban - 2 can dine 69.99!)
Have fun!
