Sports Museum of America in NYC, anybody been there?

Has anybody been there? I can't find any feedback on here about it. My teens are going out to Ellis Island one day but I have already been there, and I am looking for new things to do in the downtown area. I thought this looked interesting.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Someone asked about this "museum" recently, and I don't believe the responses were positive.

I'm a New Yorker and museum fanatic, and I've never even heard of a "sports museum" in lower Manhattan.

Gekko - the sports museum opened a couple of months ago. It's in a building right by the bull.

Sorry, emd - I don't know anyone who has been there. My BIL works right across the street and is a sports nut. It's just too overpriced for him to bother.

i remember that thread, but i don't think anyone had been to it yet. so, i'm not sure that the responses could have been negative.

it looks great from the website.

To me, the website looks like a few mementoes and a lot of hot air.

skatedancer, the responses were mostly negative, and from people who had never been there - since they had no interest in going, they "opined" that it wasn't worth the time or money!

How funny ... I have an office in 11 Broadway at the bull that I obviously rarely visit.

And I'm a huge sports fan, so any alleged bias is simply wrong.

I'll check out this "museum" the next time I'm down there.

(But I'm a subscriber to both TONY and New York and have read nothing about it.)

The only review I have read- don;t remember if here or on another travel board - was from a major sports fan and s/he said it was disappointing.

I am going to go ahead and try it because I need to take my teen son and his girlfiend down to Battery Park this Sunday to get them on the boat to Ellis Island. Since the museum is in the area I am going to stop in and will report back.
