Southern CA Hot/Mineral Springs?
Hi everyone!
I am plannng my trip to Southern California and wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any mineral/hot springs located in the area and if so, what do you think of them?
Has anyone gone to them? Are they worth experiencing?
Thanks for the help in advance
Jenny

What part of Southern California will you be visiting? The only hot spring that I've visited relatively nearby to LA was Glen Ivy (http://www.glenivy.com).
To be perfectly honest, I don't really remember much about it except that it was not an entirely enjoyable experience. I was there with the members of my department on a "retreat" and I did NOT feel comfortable seeing my coworkers in swimsuits or having them see me in mine. Having a department meeting in swimsuits was a bit surreal.

Your post was way too funny! I can't imagine seeing my coworkers 1/2 naked. I wouldn't want any of them to see me probably more than I wouldn't want to see them! LOL
We will be going from Santa Barbara to San Diego. We have 14 days to look around. No kids, just 2 adults. Thought the hot springs might be cool.
I'm kind of a health nut so I am always looking for "healthy" things to try.
Now you gave me a visual that I just can't get out of my nind! LOL Note to self: avoid retreats with coworkers that include bathing suits! LOL
Thanks for the good laugh!

Glen Ivy would work out well logistically, it would not be out of the way if you take I15 to San Diego. It has been a few years since I went to Glen Ivy but I have heard they have actually been fixing it up. It was nice when I went, there are several pools, and hot tubs. There is a mud area, where you smear red clay all over each other and then bake in the sun. It ruins your suit so bring an old one if you want to get dirty. I thought it was nice without being pretentious. I had a nice massage and enjoyed a relaxing day. I think it was in the late Spring and the weather was great, about 80 and very sunny. They list hotels on the website. Temecula is kind of fun for a visit, several wineries. There is also a an Indian Casino and hotel farther south on I15...Pechanga. Not my thing but a co-worker and his wife enjoy stopping there.
There are several places in Palm Springs/Desert Hot Springs if you do a search...One clothing optional came up! It is a bit out of the way from Santa Barbara to SD but if you have time Palm Springs is a great area. What time of year will you be here?

Thanks for all the great info. from everyone. I must confess I probably wouldn't opt for the "clothing optional spa" If I went, that would send guests fleeing to seek counseling LOL.
I will be there from the end of March thru the middle of April.
We are planning on relocating to California this year so we are on a quest to find the best place to live in Southern California. We only have to 2 weeks to find it.
This will be our 4th trip there in the last 12 months so we have narrowed things down and now we have decided on Southern California.
This board is helping me sort things out. It has been great!
Thanks to everyone.

Desert Hot Springs has a hotel built around a large palm-tree covered area with several free-form pools of varying degrees of warmth. I am not at home and do not have a map with me, so I can't give you a distance from San Diego. A google will turn up two such hotels in Desert Hot Springs.

Jenny, glad you got a kick out of my experience. I'd actually forgotten about it until I read your question, then the memories came flooding back. (ACK!) And this was about 20 years ago when we were all still relatively young (mid-20s to mid-30s, with a couple older men). I couldn't imagine doing something like that now! Still work with most of the same people so we're now almost-50s to almost-60s. Double ACK!!

I understand what you are saying. If people saw me in a swim suite they would spend a year in therapy LOL! Not a pretty site any more. I look in the mirror and have no idea how I got this new body I am now sporting! LOL
Oh well, that's life
Thanks for the laughs
