South Lake Tahoe lodging?

Hola again! Pls kindly give me your thoughts/experiences on both the Rodeway Inn and Blue Jay Lodge in S. L. Tahoe, regarding overall quality and cleanliness. They offer cheap rates and seem okay.

Otherwise, any suggestions for NICE cheap lodgings anywhere in the area?

This is for WINTER, early Jan. 2006.

Gracias!

I've never stayed in either, but I've walked by the Blue Jay many times and it looks ok. It's made up of cute little cottages and it's very close to Harvey's. I have know idea if they're kept up or not. I've stayed at the Royal Vahalla before and their rates are pretty good. It's decent and they have a nice pool.

It's probably too early to bid for January, but Priceline is often a good bet for South Lake Tahoe. If you're unfamiliar with PL's bidding process, go to biddingfortravel.com and study up before you bid. The big casino's have inexpensive rooms, but they're probably not offered this early in the year.

Check out Horizon's rates, and maybe it's too early for January. The rooms are basic, clean, good location and some enterntainment.

Tks Fodorites! I will look into all those mentioned, and Priceline as we get closer to date.

BTW, any comments on Econo Lodge Reno, Wells Av.?

We like the Inn by the Lake. It is clean and comfortable with a nice bi-level spa. www.innbythelake.com They used to be in the Entertainment Book. Enjoy Tahoe! ***kim***

Tks kimamom! Inn by the Lake is double my aforementioned choices, and really it's just for "crashing' after a full day on the slopes.

Any other Fodorites have some pearls of wisdom?
