South Carolina & Georgia
I am traveling to Hilton Head Island for a week over the Labor Day weekend. I would like to make the most of my time there and the surrounding cities (e.g. Savannah to Charleston). I'd like to know what I should definitely plan to visit during this initial trip to this area. I am driving and willing to travel as much as needed to see the high spots. I am traveling with active adults ages 35 - 78. We are open to all suggestions. Thank you.

Both Savannah and Charleston are accessible, although Charleston would be better for an overnight at the least. Sightseeing from HH is certainly possible, but usually people go for the beach and sports.

Both times I flew into Savannah and stayed overnight there near the airport. The first trip we drove over to Tybee Island which was very nice. Have never spent any time downtown though. I was staying both times at a Marriott timeshare and they did offer excursions to Savannah, Charleston and Beaufort.

We go to Hilton Head every year and love riding bikes and walking on the beach. Riding bikes on the beach is fun and there are miles and miles of bike paths. The restaurants we like in Hilton Head are Black Marlin, Sea Shack, Skullcreek Boathouse, Old Oyster Factory and Frankie Bones.
It is about an hour drive to Savannah. We took the Old Town Trolley tour last time we were there and really enjoyed it. The tour will give you an overview of the city and you can hop on and off at the different stops.
Hope you have a good trip.
