Well, yes Pirate Queen has availability at TKTS most days, but Wicked is not even listed on the TKTS list -- and is definitely fully sold out.

I'm not sure what kind of remarkable fluke happened if your friends actually got Wicked tickets there, but I would not recommend anyone to wait and try to get them there. The show was definitely fully sold out in advance last Tuesday.

Perhaps it was Tuesday night . . . if Colette is visiting on a weekend, 'Wicked' may not be a TKTS possibility, even a single seat. If 'Wicked' is a must, don't chance it--buy a ticket ahead.

Porbably no need to order a limo from LaGuardia--just take a taxi--unless you want to splurge and avoid a wait.

Colette, When are you coming? I didn't see that mentioned here, but I may have missed something. The prices for hotels, prices and availability fo theater tickets vary a huge amount depending on the time of the year.

NeoPatrick, aside from this weekend for St Patrick's day, Jan-March is low season in NY (for tourists, not business trips) so there are often discounts for shows that seem unlikely. In past years, friends have bought discount tickets for shows that were thought to be totally unavailable (Producers, Spamalot)
So... a fluke, yes, but not impossoble

I've been playing around on Ticketmaster and I can get two tix on ONE date in May and ONE date in October.

I can buy a single tix on THREE dates in April - but not when I will be there.

I think a Wicked tix half priced at the TKTS booth is VERY much a fluke.

The $250 seems very high. These tix are Orchestra in the first few rows at $110 each. Not sure what the $250 price point might me - for one ticket.

If you want to see Wicked, buy before you go.

Well, just found 2 "premium seating" tix available for the Sunday I'll be there - at $300 per tix.

What's the premium?

Those $250 tickets are "premium seating" a regular thing now on Broadway. They are center orchestra seating. Recently I see that those are often the only ones left.

Now I'm curious. Could those TKTS seats have been premium seats -- half price and sold at $125 each?

I see from the Broadway grosses statistics that last week Wicked played to over 99% capacity, so there sure weren't many empty seats anywhere.

Actually that was 99.9%, there were a total of 9 unsold seats over last week's 8 performances.

Starrsville, you ask "what's the premium"? The price you have to pay to get one, of course. LOL

Neopatrick: For future reference, are these premium tickets always center orchestra? Apparently, the official sellers picked up on the fact that stubhub, etc., were making money, and basically decided to scalp their own tickets. I was just wondering if these tickets were all really good seats. Thanks.

Honestly, Patrick, I don't know. But I will ask them tomorrow since they've since returned from whence they came.

Although it would surprise me if any of them spent over $100 for any tickets... I pretty much assumed it was 1/2 price nosebleed tickets (and on Bway, there's not really a bad seat that I know of).

Colette, I hope you're paying heed to these posts and purchasing your tickets now so you will definitely see Wicked, instead of possibly seeing... sorry for the bad info...

I know, Neo. I understand the concept of "Premium". I was hoping they also offered some "value added" as we found at Radio City. I bought VIP tix for the Christmas Spectacular and, in addition to great seats, we got more for the money. A separate entrance - with no line on cold winter days for VIP ticket holders. Wait in the lobby while an attendant goes to will call for you to retrieve the tix. Seats just a few rows from the stage. A gift bag waiting in every seat complete with souvenir program, a plastic tub of popcorn and a waiter appearing as we sat asking if we wanted Coke, Diet Coke or water. Truly a treat - VIP treatment in addition to great seats. I was hoping that Premium tix to Wicked for $300 would offer something similar and not be just internal scalping. The Premium tix were row B and the single tix (at $110) was row E.

No. I dont think the premium includes anything special -- just the seats, which are generally close up (not the first row or two) and center. But it appears that recently those premium sections are getting larger and larger. In other words since there are hundreds of scalpers making lots of money buying up and selling tickets at double and greater prices, now the theatres are doing as many of those as they can too.

Well......since I haven't been to NYC in YEARS......I dug WAAAY down and paid $250 for a "premium" seat through ticketmaster......and it truly IS an awesome seat......Orchestra, 5th row back and in the center!! My problem is......they emailed it to me, but it's kinda tricky printing it out.....have to have Adobe "4pointsomething", AND I need a password (???) So I called ticketmaster back and told them I'm having a problem printing the ticket, and they said that I could pick it up an hour and a half before the show at the "will call" desk. I guess I'm feeling lucky that I got a ticket with only a week's notice.....and it really is worth $250 to me....if only I can print it out!!!! yikes! Thank you SOOOO much for all of your help, advice, and discussion! Also, I ended up with a room at the Muse hotel, a room with a (?)balcony(?). Anyone know about the balcony rooms @ the Muse? I can't imagine what this balcony is
going to overlook??????? I'm guessing the ocean????? ))thanksthanks&morethanks. colette

Incredible! Good choices, Colette. The Muse will be wonderful and your seat at Wicked is money well spent. Spectacular show - my very favorite. Buy the CD before you go and listen to it several times. Really adds to the enjoyment of the show.

You could go to a FedEx Kinko's or elsewhere to access your email account and print out the tickets. The Muse may have a business center or would be willing to print the tix out for you.

I've stayed at the Muse and couldn't imagine what a balcony would be, but this is from their website:

"And some of the suites offer expansive private terraces for guests to take in the inimitable New York cityscape.'

So my question is -- what time are you hosting the cocktail party and what should we wear?

The website says they have a business center or business services. I'm sure they would be able to print out your tickets for you.

I looked last night too Neo and couldn't find a room shown with balcony - but what a great deal! I'll bring some champagne

"and a couple extra glasses"

Hmmmm. And still no formal invitation or time. I think we've been snubbed. Now I want to know who those extra glasses are for. Hoping to get lucky at Kinkos?

Well, at least raise a glass and toast the Fodorites you aren't there to enjoy the view!

No, not hoping to get lucky @ Kinkos, NeoPatrick , but to arrive and find that my balcony view is a dumpster and a brick wall......the drama, the embarassment, the humiliation.....Thanks for the Wicked info, starrsville........the timing won't work for me, but what a great activity! I'm wondering how many other Fodorites are Wizard of Oz/Wicked fans??? I myself have no idea why I'm such a fan, but I'm wondering if it has something to do with those traveling monkeys?
