Skiing in Late November

Our schools have the whole week of Thankgiving off and we all (2 families) would love to go skiing. Flights to the Northeast are much less expensive than those out west. Are there any resorts in New Hampshire or Vermont that might have reasonably good snow (Nov 23-Nov 27th) or should we look for deals out west?

Look out west or Upper Vermont / NH (towards Canadian border). I don't think Killington, etc have had cold enough weather to even start making snow

Loon in Lincoln, NH, is planning a late November opening. Cannon will probably have the same conditions.

Last year Jay Peak VT, opened on November 17.

Both have had their first snow fall.

Jay is definitely your best bet. They're one of the few resorts in the east who consistently open around Thanksgiving.

Generally, Thanksgiving is a little early for good skiing in the east, but my husband is convinced it will be an early winter in the East, so maybe you'll be in luck!

You need to find the resorts that make snow for that time of year!

Best in the area would be Killington
Hate the crowds...but they do have excellent snowmaking.

I am partial to Hunter Mountain in the Catskils for the same reason as Killington. Just closer trip from NYC.

Go west.

Next couple weeks will be warm and rainy even up in Burlington (mid 50s during the day). If you do go NE, Jay was a good suggestion but I'm not optimistic on early season weather on the east coast. Basically everyone plans for a Thanksgiving opening but you may be skiing on rocks if at all.
