Wow, thank you all so much for your advises and infos. I definitely feel reassured in my plans and learned about some new interesting facts, especially MSG history, which I had no idea about.
I really consider now to look rather south of MSG, and the mentioned "Fairfield Inn Chelsea" ... well, I was actually referring to the "Fairfield InnSuites Midtown/Penn", literally just around the corner. Easy to get confused among all the Marriotts, Hiltons etc. ;-)
