Shows in NYC at Christmas Time
Hi there!
I, along with 2 other co-workers, are going to NYC a few days before Christmas. We are planning on seeing "Phantom of the Opera" and hope to see Christmas Spectacular at Radio City. This would be the first time seeing this show for all of us. A few questions. #1 Is there any sites that we can get cheaper tickets? If not that's okay. #2 Where in the theater is best to sit?
Thanks in advance for the help!

http://www.broadwaybox.com/ is a good place to find discounts on tickets. They have some cheap tickets for the Rockettes: http://www.broadwaybox.com/shows/chr...c_tickets.aspx
We got discounted tickets to a 10 am showing (non-peak performances) a few years ago; we had great seats and loved the show. There isn't anything like it! We were on the orchestra level, towards the front, but a little off to the side - I think the view is probably good from anywhere.
Phantom of the Opera also has discount tickets available, but the current offer expires on Dec 18th. Another one might pop up later on, though.
This is a much better deal than waiting in line at the TKTS booth, you can order beforehand and not waste your valuable NYC trip time waiting in line.
Have fun!

My guess is that Phantom (and most other Broadway shows) won't offer a published discount offer for Christmas week. That is when shows do a lot of their business. I would also recommend getting tickets ahead of time if you're set on seeing a particular show. TKTS line will be long, and very cold!
In general, you can see from anywhere in the Majestic theatre. It's a very large theatre, however, so be aware of that. Tickets at the top of the balcony will be less expensive, but you'll be far away from the stage. On the other hand, it is a very "grand" show, and there's something nice about taking in all of the scenery from a bit higher up. It's up to you!
Enjoy!

There's a reason why the Phantom offer ends December 18. After that begins the peak season for Broadway shows. The chances of getting discount tickets are not good. Therefore, I would recommend getting full-price tickets now.
As for the Christmas show, I'm not sure what performances qualify, but the are discounts for off-peak-time shows. Check one of the above-mentioned websites.

You can also check playbill.com for discounts. You need to sign up for their free "club" but once you do, it will give you info on available deals.
If you decide to go through the TKTS booth, you can also check the section of Playbill called "Last Week's Broadway Grosses." The shows that have sold only 60 or 70 percent of their tickets are most likely going to be appearing on the TKTS boards. If you buy through them, go to the booth in South Street Seaport. It has only a fraction of the visitors who stand in line at the Times Square location.
The "best" place to sit is very subjective. Some people prefer sitting very close so they can see the actors' facial expressions clearly. And as the prev poster said, others like to be farther back so they can see the whole stage at once.
As I recall, from the last couple rows of the Majestic you can't see the top of the procenium because of the balcony overhang. For most shows, that may not be a problem, but Phantom has some action that takes place above the stage floor and the people in those seats miss it. If that would make a difference to you, be sure to ask if any seats at the rear or sides of the orchestra would have limited views.
