shopping at century 21, new york

Shopped at Century 21 near ground zero 2 years ago, found old out of fashion shoes that were not even bargains, then had to go through a weird maze type corridors to get to the clothing, I wanted to buy some bargain designer clothing but didn't find a good selection or pricing. Asked a native, and she said it all depends on the shipments and shopping could be a hit or miss there, should have save the $20 taxi as I didn't purchase anything.
I had a much better experience at the Woodbury outlet stores. Am I missing something here? I heard they opened a second store near Lincoln Center, do they have better stuff?

Century 21 is very hit or miss. The prices are never really low since they specialize is more upscale things. You may get a $500 purse for $250. But if you're looking for a deal for $50 to $75 that is not the place to go. Secaucus or Woodbury have more in the moderate range - but the real bargains (the $200 jacket for $25 will definitely be out of season and possibly a year old). Plus it takes longer/costs more to get there.

why you'd take a taxi there i don't understand - it's right near subway and buses.
It is hit or miss like any outlet store, and it depends on what you call a "bargain." I find excellent lingerie, accessories etc even if there isn't any clothing I like. There are times I spend $300 and times I spend nothing

And if you are looking for bargains on this years fashions that's not the place to go.

I guess I was expecting past seasons top designer fashion e.g. Gucci, ferragamo, miu miu, prada, ect. When I went dkny was the most expensive item and that looked like fuzzy tired looking with snags and was still costing over $150 for a jacket that I could have gotten from Tjmax for $50.

Oh we were heading that way couple of hours before store closing, so we rushed by taxi, we left with one hour before closing because the shopping was so bad.

Like any discounter, it's always hit-n-miss. Sometimes you luck out, other times it's a bust. Often clothing has been picked-over and not to be touched. But there are other things besides clothing and shoes that are worth a visit here... depends on what you're looking for.
