Sheraton Moana and La Mer

We are playing tourist for our anniversary without the kids. I booked the historical wing, ocean view at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. Now I am reading that the rooms may stink and the bathrooms aren't modern. I've stayed in the new wing. Can someone describe the room in the old section? We've had bad experiences at both the Royal Hawaiian and the Sheraton Waikiki this year so I'm hoping this is better.

Also, tell me the pros and cons of La Mer vs Chef Marvo?

Stayed at the Moana Surfrider 2 years ago and it was absolutely beautiful in the center of the historic wing. It felt like we were back in time and very romantic. However note, there are no balconies in the Banyan rooms. The rooms are ample in size, there was no foul smell. Going back to Oahu next week, but did not book Moana only because they are doing some constr. there at the time. Check that out for your time frame.
Fine dining, you can't go wrong at either of your choices. If you could only go to one, I would suggest La Mer. But that is by the thinnest of margins.

Thanks for the info. We actually canceled the room because we like big sliding glass window views and a balcony to enjoy a good book. Our anniversary is on X-mas. The worst time to find anything. Will probably go with La Mer though.

I was just looking through the La Mer menu. Looks like seafood, duck, veal...things I don't eat. Is Chef Marvo the same way?
