SF parking

Will be going to SF this summer, will have a rental car. Is there somewhere to park(reasonable rate) outside the city, use mass transportation while in city then pick-up car on the way out.

How long will you be in they city? Just the day?

We had a car part of the time we were in SF last spring - when were staying outside of the city it was useful, then dropped it off at the downtown rental location when it was time to stay in the city.

Would that work for you?

There are plenty of parking garages or lots in SF to park your car for a reasonable price. It would be much too inconvenient to leave the car outside of SF and have to rely solely on public transportation.

Depending on where in Sf you are staying there will be municipal garages which will be less than your hotel's parking or more convenient than parking outside the city. They dod close late at night so if you plan to use your car at that time it might be less than optimal. If you are taying anywhere near Union Square you can park at the Sutter-Stockton garage. I am assuming you are staying at an inn, hotel or the like. I'd say ask them where they recommend you park in the neighborhood. Probably the best advice was to hold off on the rental car until you are ready to leave SF and need one.
