Seward to Anchorage, Bus or Train
I need recommendations on bus or train from Seward to Anchorage please. How much longer is train? Is the train that much better? I hate to spend a lot more time on train if not worth it. Thanks

Never took the bus from Seward to Anchorage but did take the train and loved it.
It was 4 hours and 20 minutes in 2002 and quite comfortable. The scenery was wonderful and we liked it even better than the Anchorage-Denali route.
Well worth it in my opinion.

Ideally, get a one-way rental and drive it -- there's topo much great stuff along the way to just pass by. If that's not an option, I'd take the train. Four hours on a train is better than 3+ on a bus IMO.

Greatful
I can't speak from past experience, but we are going to AK in July. We enjoy riding trains when we are on vacation.
After checking into one-way rentals, etc.from Anchorage to Alaska, we decided to take the bus to Seward in the afternoon. We will arrive in time to take the train back, and will have dinner on the train. I think the train will be about 4 hours.
We will have already visited Seward so we will not be missing anything there, this is just our chance to ride the train, sit back and enjoy the scenery.

We have driven it twice r/t anc, bus once and train once. I think the train was better. We were able to walk around, go up to scenic car seats, and shoot pictures from platform between cars with fresh air. Car gives you chances to stop any where you want along way. Bus did stop at Portage Glacier for a few minutes. We did see moose from train. Saw sheep down close on last car trip back to anc.

I have done both several times. Clearly the scenery is superior from the train. Both have pluses, a one way rental offers the best of the best in freedom of touring and more food and lodging choices.
