Seward Holiday Inn

Has anyone seen this new hotel? It isn't open as yet but we have a reservation for the end of June and I wondered how close to being finished it was.
Thanks

They were working on it over the weekend. Looks like it has a way to go.

I was in Seward this weekend and they told me that the elevator needed to be put in. They are expected to open any day now though. It looks nice. It's down in the boat harbor near where the cruise ships come in.

Thanks for the info. Everytime I call, they say they are opening in a few days! Apparently the elevator isn't coming until July so they are opening without it. Hope this wasn't a mistake booking a new hotel.

The hotel actually looked pretty nice from the outside.

Will do. I wish I could get a better idea of how ready they are for guests!
I would hate to get to Seward and not have a place to stay.

If you want an alternate hotel, try the Harborview Inn. I just stayed there. It's very nice and between the boat docks and downtown. The rates are very reasonable as well.

The elevator is not really an issue since this is only a 2 or 3 story hotel, as I recall, and there are lots of those in Alaska without elevators.

It's in a great location, and looked quite nice when we were there recently. Please let us know what you think of it.

Were people staying at the Holiday Inn when you were in Seward? Still trying to figure out if they really opened on time. Just finished reading all your postings. Sounds like you had a great trip. Thanks for all the info.We leave in 4 days!

No one was staying there when we were there. The parking lot needed some work, and it looked like the inside was not quite finished. My advice would be not to expect much of any lodgings in Alaska, and then you'll be pleasantly surprised each time you stay in a nice place. We were blessed with excellent lodging choices for our whole trip, but some of those were not comparable to what we would have chosen in the lower 48. It's just a different world in Alaska, and trust me, the place is so beautiful that lodging will be the least of your worries. With almost constant daylight and so much to see and do, you'll be ready to fall asleep on a park bench if that's all that's available. ;-) I hope I am reassuring you. I, too , was kind of worried about lodging, but it really is a moot point because this place is like no other, and you'll be willing to make some sacrifices for the views!;-) Besides, Seward is not the kind of place you'll want to use as a rest break--just walking the streets is a treat there.

We loved our trip, and I know you'll have an incredible trip, too.

Just back from our trip. The Holiday Inn in Seward is open and was great. It has a great location right on the harbor and if you want to spend a little more, get a room with a balcony overlooking the harbor. The mountainview balcony rooms are very sunny in the afternoon, too hot when we were there! The pool was still not open when we were there but it looked nice and should be open by now. We would definitely recommend it. Thanks for all the postings assuring us before we left!
