Serviced apartments

Would love some info or recommendations on any midtown serviced apartments for a six day stay in NYC in August.low level noise, cleanliness, price and of course safety are the most important needs.

You will do better if you repost this with NYC in the title. Try VRBO.com

Ruby: I just printed out a nice report from Lee4, dated 6/11/04, in which the poster reviews in detail an apartment rented from www.metro-home.com If you put Lee4 in the search box you will find it- it is like the 3rd post down by Lee4. Other posters replied to that post w/additional info on other apartments for rent.
I am also following these posts, as I would like to rent a place for a week. So if you do rent, would appreciate a report back on the experience.

Try Affina www.affinia.com, formerly Mahattan East Suite Hotels. They have a nice collection of serviced apartments. I've stayed at several and they are all well maintained. Also, have stayed at The Kimberly - again, nicely maintained. Might also try Express Reservations or QuickBook, as they both book these properties at discounts. For a large NY apartment, try the Hotel Del Monico near Central Park South. Another service is Your Stay New York, www.yourstay.com

great tips, TC- thanks. I am printing out your post for my file. I have stayed at a Manhattan East Suite (now affinia) property also- not Beekman Tower but the one close by in Murray Hill. I looked at their website a few months ago, and if it is a true representation, it looks like they have really upgraded the furnishings and decor since I was there. It was more bare bones back then, but I stil liked the amount of space and full kitchen, and Murray Hill is quiet.

I'm assuming by serviced apartment you're really looking for an apartment hotel. A place listed on vrbo.com may not be "serviced" (ie no daily maid service etc.)

In addition to affinia (the Shelburne Murray Hill sounds like the property emd mentioned here but all their properties seem to get very good reviews on tripadvisor) the San Carlos has recently been mentioned as a good place (newly opened I think) and is well located in the 50's on the east side. The Kimberley is in the same area and has an indoor pool. The Alex is another new hotel with suite rooms and kitchens but I think they're quite expensive.

Unfortunately, the Hotel Delmonico is no longer. Was bought by the Trumps and is being converted to condominiums.

Another outfit that offers furnished apts. for short-term rental is www.hospitalityco.com. As I don't have personal experience with them though, maybe someone else provide feedback.
